Vanadium (band)

Vanadium was an Italian heavy metal band. It was among the first groups of its kind to appear on the Peninsula and is considered among the most representative of the Italian heavy metal scene. It was a successful band in Italy and on the international scene.
==History==
Vanadium formed in Milan in 1980, founded by Stefano Tessarin (guitar), with Ruggero Zanolini (keyboards), Domenico Prantera (bass) Lio Mascheroni (drums) and Pino Scotto (vocals). Musically they are very influenced by hard rock groups like Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. There are many difficulties to emerge in a time when heavy metal music had not yet fertile ground in Italy, but the career of Vanadium is dotted with good success, even abroad.
Their discography includes a first single (''We Want Live with Rock 'n' Roll'' - Durium, 1981) seven studio albums and the live ''On Streets of Danger''. Their debut album is Metal Rock in 1982, which is able to collect a good sales success. ''Game Over'' (1984), the figure rises to 54,000 copies sold only in Italy.
Here are several more albums like ''Born to Fight'' (1986) and ''Corruption of Innocence'' (1987). Following the collapse of their label Durium, they recorded their last album Vanadium ''Seventheaven'' with GreenLine label and broke up in 1990. They regrouped in 1995, returning to the market with an album sung in Italian: ''Nel cuore del caos''. The album, despite the good compositions signed by Tessarin-Prantera-Zanolini, Scotto's still scratchy voice and the hand of the poet Norman Zoia texts, collecting a low commercial success, and after a long tour, the band split up again and finally .
The 11 May 2014, the Italian publisher Crac Edizioni distribute the official Vanadium biography written by the music journalist Luca Fassina.
Stefano Tessarin, with Ruggero Zanolini and Lio Mascheroni delivered ''Guardian Angel'', the third studio album of the band Rustless. Pino Scotto continue his solo career with his eight album ''Vuoti di memoria''. Domenico Prantera is enjoying his retirement playing music with friends and helping new bands find their way in rock.
